The 4G smartphones that the company is planning to launch this year can be used on the high-speed networks of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Bharti AirtelBSE-0.58%. With this latest move, the company is planning to catch with its Chinese rivals that have a decent consumer base in the Indian market.
While talking about launching the 4G smartphones to a leading business daily, Micromax Informatics chief executive officer Vineet Taneja, “We are going to launch three 4G devices below $150 (Rs 9,900) within this month and by Diwali another five devices, which will be in the $100 range (Rs 6,600), so we will have a full portfolio below Rs 10,000.”
Silicon major Media Tek Inc has also tied up with Micromax in order to increase the 4G adoption in India. Apparently, Micromax will become the first Indian mobile brand to launch mobile devices powered by Media Tek’s new platform Helio. Micromax’s Canvas Fire 4G will be the first of the phones to run on this technology and will be powered by Media Tek MT6735 processor.
As per the reports, India is one of the fastest growing market in the world for 4G and as per the predictions, Indian will take over Japan as the third largest market by 2017.
